Circle of Friends

"Friendship is like a violin; the music may stop now and then,
but the strings will last forever."

This past Saturday some of Paul's High School friends got together for a night of catching up. We all met at Molly's house, went to eat at Village Tavern (very good), and then back to Molly's house for a mini concert performed by Eric. It was a good time to catch up with everyone and to get to know everyone better. Looking forward to the next time that we get together and hope that a few others can join in next time. Dessert was the best part with Molly recommendation of getting Chocolate Martini's.

Alex or Bust

Saturday we arrived in BHM with no problem. When we got in the shuttle to the remote lot the drives said "The weather man is calling for 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow". Paul and I just laughed. We rushed home to get things together because we had an engagement shower in Alexander City. Paul's old roommate is getting married in April and we were spending the night with his other roommate. The party was great and it was wonderful to catch up with the Neese's and Alan and Claire.

Sunday we woke up and were talking with Jim and April and there was a little bit of snow falling. A little while later Rachel sends a message saying church was cancelled. I thought well it cant be that bad, its just because no one really likes to drive in the snow. Well when we finally decided to leave my car was completely covered!

There wasn't much snow on the ground but as we were on 280 heading to Birmingham the roads were getting really bad. I thought that it was unbelievable that there could actually be this much snow here.

Our neighborhood and our backyard.

No we did not go out to play. We (or maybe just me) are like the Grinch about going out to play in the snow. I guess that with growing up with snow and to of just left the white stuff I was not thrilled to see if again. As fast as the snow came I was just as happy to see it melt away. Yes I know that I am no fun!

Sitting in Pittsburgh

In January my parents asked if I was not working if I would come home and dog sit so that Cole could stay home. Since at the time I did not have a job and was not thinking I was even going to have one I agreed. As the time got closer the Doctor that I used to work for (8 years ago, that is so long ago) asked if I could help out with the afternoon shift at the office the same week, I agreed. When I left BHM on Wednesday it was 70 degrees. When I landed in PIT on Thursday it was in the low 30's and it was SNOWING! I was not even planning on the snow since it was sunny and 40 in Jersey. On Friday after taking my parents to the airport Aimee and said that her and a few friends were going to Excuses so I went to meet them.

Me and Aimee at Excuses

On Saturday we went to 7Springs to go ski. Aimee has never snowboarded before so while she took lessons I went to ski. The conditions were not that great, there was a lot of ice under the top layer to make skiing a little more difficult. Aimee did pretty good for the first time on the mountain. After we were done skiing we stopped at Primanti's for sandwiches. (That will be another blog.)

Mimi strapped in and ready to go!

I know that I have blogged before about how much I love Cole and I really do, he is right up there after Paul! Well when I left home he pretty much made himself at home on my bed. But because I love him I will share the bed with him and his toys. The one morning I woke up and I was laying parallel with the pillows because Cole pushed me out of the way! Is there a problem with that?

On Sunday for Serena's birthday we went out to spend the afternoon together. We had some time to kill before the movie so we went to Target. While we were there we tested out the hats and sunglasses. We went to go see the Confessions of a Shopaholic and then to the Hibachi Grill (Serena's favorite).

When we went into the restaurant to eat there was NO snow around.... by the time we came out there was about 2inches. I wanted to have a heart attack because I have not driven in the snow in 3 years. But we made it with no problem.

Monday to Thursday I was back to the working world. It was nice to be working part-time and to see some of the patients that I have not seen for almost 8 years. I hope to fill in more if I have the time. I was supposed to work Friday but Dr. Phil's wife had just had a baby and was having minor problems so it was better for him to stay home with her. And that allowed me to make a run to get to New Jersey to see Paul.

Anytime you fly into the New York area there is always delays but add some wind or rain and not only are there delays but there are also cancellations. Out of Pittsburgh there were 2 flights cancelled and 5 flights delayed. Paul met me at the airport so we could try and make it to Birmingham but my flight was about 10 minutes too late for me to get my bags and make it to the other terminal.

We didn't make it to BHM but at least we were together!!
