Trip to Madrid, Spain

Paul had a trip to Madrid .... and I decided to go. We drove to Atlanta to catch our flight to Newark. It was an early morning and we ended up having to run to catch the flight because of traffic… I mean who would think that there would be traffic in Atlanta at 6:30 in the morning (can you hear the sarcasm). We arrived in Newark and the weather was beautiful (better than in Alabama, so sad so sad) and headed to the apartment for lunch and a nap. Friday afternoon we headed to the airport for our flight. It was a pretty open flight and I got Business First.... yes, ice cream sundae. After a minor mechanical we were on our way. Once we landed in Madrid we took a nap, headed to the store for some wine and then we were out to see the sites.

If you have ever seen the movie Vantage Point with Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker, and Matthew Fox? 1. and 2. Plaza Mayor, this is the Square where the President gets shot in. 3. and 4. There are always people performing in the square and these were just a couple of the ones we saw, a person dressed as Spider-Man, Pooh Bear, and a Matador and a bull.

We went to see the Oldest Restaurant in the World "Botin" and had planned to eat there but when we went back it was so crowded. The Restaurant is even recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records.

L: We ate at Museo del Jamon for lunch and it was really good. All of the white things hanging around the top are hams. R: Paul and I in the Plaza Mayor.

1: We went to the Bull Bar where they have Bull heads on the wall and there is also a Matador Bar (not as cool as the Bull Bar though). 2: All over the walls were pictures of the bulls beating the Matadors. For dinner we met up with the Captian and IRO at the Mushroom Bar. They make some really good mushrooms and it was the first time I ever ate a mushroom. If it were not for the texture of the mushroom I would eat them again. After mushrooms we headed over to Plantaro's for dinner. Dinner was great. 3: Paul and I with Ramon. Ramon and his wife run the restaurant. Ramon does all of the serving and his wife is the cook/dishwasher. 4: Paul, Bill's friend, IRO Barry, and Captain Bill at dinner.

It was a great trip to Madrid and I look forward to go back with Paul again....

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

For St. Patrick's Day, Paul and I went to meet some of our friends at momma g's for dinner. It is so nice to see this great group of people in the middle of the week. We had a great time laughing and talking and most importantly e a t i n g nachos!

Friday morning Paul and I were up early to go to the gym before heading to Muscle Shoals for the weekend. Paul went to get water from the refrigerator and it would not dispense... the door was open just a little. Paul opened the door to see what was in the way and down the front of the door was droplets of frozen water beads. The top of the freezer was getting warm and bottom was all still frozen. We tinkered with the refrigerator for a while and we had to get ready to go. We prayed all weekend that whatever food was still in there would be OK it was just that I had left the door open... Well we got back home Sunday night and it was still the same warm at the top and freezing at the bottom in both the freezer and frig sections. Ugh are you for real... I started moving the salvageable stuff to coolers and some stuff I sent to my neighbors.

What a fiasco! So now, this is what we are dealing with. Paul has been troubleshooting and we think we found the problem, but now we have to wait for the part to come in and for him to be off to fix it.

For now, this is what I will be working with...

On a positive note: we FINALLY got our cooler with wheels so that when we go tailgate at the Auburn games Mike won't give Paul a hard time for not having wheels on the cooler. I mean like come who uses a cooler without wheels?!?!?!?!

This is what I really wanted to get but then we would have to get the hitch to go with it...

Hopefully I will have a working frig in a few days.

It’s raining, it’s pouring

….. it's a baby shower. Paul's sister in law is having a baby in April and I told Paul's mom what I would help her with the shower. It was this past weekend in Muscle Shoals. There were A LOT of people there and I think the shower went really well. Sid and Libby got lots of for the baby. I think she will be set for a while. The gifts covered a King and queen size bed.

I did this project for the mantle that I saw HERE and HERE. I think it turned out really cute.

Life Is a Beautiful Picture You Create One Piece at a Time

Life is like a giant puzzle. Each of us has a picture in our minds of how our lives will turn out.
We keep adding pieces, one at a time, attempting to create that beautiful picture.

If one piece does not fit, we replace it with another.
We never get all the pieces in the right place in the first try.
It's all about experimenting until each piece fits together with the next.
Though our futures may not be clear or turn out exactly as we expected,

each of us has the strength inside to put the puzzle together.
We have to look for the right pieces.
It may seem impossible, but keep striving.
Life's pieces have a way of falling into place when you least expect it.

Projects, Projects everywhere

When Paul left for work I told him that I would all of my projects cleaned complete or at least cleaned up. Therefore, I have been working very hard this weekend to get them completed. My first project started umm… about sometime in 2006, Our Honeymoon Scrapbook. I have been putting it on the back burner or not wanting to drag it out because it is so much work to get

everything set up. In our next house (whenever that might be) I am requesting a scrapbook room so that I leave it looking like this all the time until I finish a book or any other project I have going on at the time.

When Paul is going to be away for a while this is my opportunity to just let it all hang out.

So my goal is to have all of this mess cleaned up and the scrapbook completed by wed this week…… ha ha yeah right OK well then at least have the mess cleaned up till the next time.

In addition, to my other project that I have completed, YEAH, last night was my block letters. I started these umm oh in October of last year and had the goal to have them all completed for the actual holiday. Yes, once again, I failed but I did have the Christmas ones done in time. SSSOOO, now I am ready for Halloween and Thanksgiving. They are really L O N G but I have the perfect self for them or the mantle. I am optimistic and told Paul that I want some for EVERY Holiday now. We will wait and see if I will get them.
