Home Sweet Home

On Monday November 15th Reagan got to come home.  A lot had happened in the last 24 hours of her hospital stay.  On Sunday we knew that Reagan was going to get a blood transfusion Sunday night or Monday morning.  We headed to the hospital and things started to change pretty quickly.  They had asked us to spend the night there because they were not sure what and when things would change.
 Oh what a morning!

Once we got to the hospital, they told us that they would be training us Sunday night on a monitor that they would be sending Reagan home with for 3-6 months.  They told us that they would have to make the final transfusion decision Monday morning.  They trained us on how to use the monitor and CPR just in case.  Basically it is a small purse size box that has two electrodes that she has to wear that monitor her for breathing and heart rate.  It will alarm if something is too high or low.

Then they gave us a small dorm room to stay in and let us spend the night with Reagan in the room.  We were able to take care of her all night and do all the feedings and everything she needed.  The nurses basically came in every feeding and checked her vitals and asked us if we needed anything.  They just wanted to make sure she did well with the monitor for a night.

This morning the doctor came in and said that he had discussed it with the pediatrician and they had decided that since she was improving and not showing any symptoms of anemia that they would not do the transfusion.  Then he made sure we were OK using the monitor, gave us some vitamins that she needs and set us up with appointments that she needs soon.  Then he said "She's all yours have fun"

They let us bring her home about 11:30 and we got home about 12:00.  We spent our first day at home napping.  The weather was perfect for napping... rained all day.  Reagan doesn't seem to even notice the monitor.  We are going to the doctors on Thursday to check Reagan's weight and talk to the doctor about whatever is going on with Reagan.  We are so excited to have Reagan home and are looking forward to showing her off to all of our family and friends.

Our story has started out a little crazy but we are happy to share our story and are happy that we have the friends that we have made in Birmingham to help us out during this crazy time.  We also appreciate all of the our family and friends who have had a huge out pour of love for us during this past month.  Thank you to everyone for your kind words, prayers and generosity that you have showed/showered us with.

Tuesday morning after breakfast Reagan and Daddy are ty ty.

Reagan is ready for the Iron Bowl.... she is working on her football pose.
